Optometry

ASSALAMUALAIKUM,

Today topic is ‘Optometry ehh?’

Most of the reaction that i get are like, “eh course ape tu?” or “ouh nnti you jadi doctor mata la nie kan?” or ‘ohhh yg pasal mata2x tu ker?’

Nope, nope and nope. So basicly ape tuh optometry?

So based on Wikipedia, “Optometry is a healthcare profession concerned with the eyes and related structures, as well as vision, visual systems, and vision information processing in humans.” Ala-ala doctor mata la tp bkn doctor, ada fhm? Okay orang yang ambil bidang optometry nie akan digelar sbgi optometrist. Optometrist itu apa pulak hmmm? “Optometrists (also known as ophthalmic opticians outside the United States and Canada) are trained to prescribe and fit lenses to improve vision, and in some countries are trained to diagnose and treat various eye diseases.” –based on Wikipedia.

Fyi, optometry nie x femes macam course2x medic, engineer and etc. So there are only seven universities in Malaysia that offer this course. Antaranya ialah 3 IPTA (UKM, UIA, UiTM) dan 4 IPTS (Twintech, SEGI College, Tun Hussein Onn Eye Hospital, MSU.  And I am currently in my first year taking my degree in optometry at MANAGEMENT & SCIENCE UNIVERSITY (MSU).
